A Word of Thanks

It is about time I recognized my blog partner and good friend, Jan, for his contributions to our hobby enjoyment. Besides being a genuinely good guy (when he's not, well, he knows), Jan has recently run three campaigns for our group - Punic Peril (ended), England On Her Knees (ongoing), and the Kolin Campaign (ongoing). I can assure you it is a lot of work and time spent. Jan is always first to run and umpire a new game for us on Thursday nights providing all the figures, terrain and playing aids. Rarely, of late, does he seem to play much whilst all this is going on. Thank goodness for DBA which he does get to roll dice and push figures.

I know Jan also contributes quite a bit to his local group in Maryland as well. Where does he find all this time? I envy him. I thank him. I appreciate him. I am honored to call him friend.

Happy Gaming All!

Thank you so much, Franko! What a lovely tribute!

Truth be told, when we have a group who are engaged and responding regularly, there's little I enjoy as much as running a good campaign. I like the organizing and bookkeeping (yes, I'm weird) and I like having the 300 foot tall general view, seeing all the moving parts coming together. Fog of war and friction are a part of wargaming that I think get downplayed far too much; they are present in campaigns in spades, and I like to see them at work.

I, in turn, need to thank you for your positive outlook, your unceasing good humour (except when the bad dice really get you down :-), your infectious enthusaism, and your unflagging willingness to try new gaming projects. Plus, you are a masterful painter, and who wouldn't love to share a blog with someone who can add pictures like those of your beautiful Poles!
